The Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ Monastery is hosting an August 21 Retreat for Girls Ages 13 to 18 entitled “Faith Unashamed.” This presentation is about the calling to do mission work in the Orthodox Church. We will learn about examples of mission work in the history of the Orthodox Church, and see how we can begin our mission work right in our own communities. My prayer is that you will be inspired to be a local missionary following the presentation. I will also include examples of my own missionary work in Ethiopia and Albania.

Guest Speaker: Katherine Saclarides — Kathryn was born in Chicago, IL. She majored in Anthropology and Spanish at Vanderbilt University and recently completed a Masters in Social Work from the University of Chicago. She worked with the Red Cross in Spain for 2 years, after which she moved to San Francisco and served at the Raphael House, an Orthodox homeless shelter. Over the past two years she has worked with the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) in Albania, and International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) in Ethiopia. Currently Kathryn is the supervisor of a mental health clinic for immigrant families in Cicero, IL. She specializes in violence prevention and crisis intervention with high-risk youth.

Parents interested in signing up your daughter for the Retreat, please call the monastery at (903) 498-4474 or send your registration by e-mail to nativitymonastery@gmail.com. The cost is $25.
